September 01, 1939

THE NEW YORK TIMES, Sept. 1, 1939  Great to have this very historic report--the beginning of World War II--in this venerable newspaper. The banner headline announces: "GERMAN ARMY ATTACKS POLAND; CITIES BOMBED, PORT BLOCKADED; DANZIG IS ACCEPTED INTO  REICH". There  are many related subheads, plus a map of the vicinity headed: "Hitler Acts Against Poland".
Presumably the complete issue with pages 1-38. This is the "rag edition" printed on very high-quality paper, very white, for long-term institutional holdings. Great condition.
