The top of the front page has a one column heading: "WRIGHTS BEGIN ASSEMBLING AEROPLANE" with subheads. (see images) Related pictorial is on page 2 with heading. Surprisingly this issue is in good condition being from the "wood pulp" era. Very hard to find issues that are not totally fragile from this era in paper. Rare as such.
Complete with 8 pages, light toning, some small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.
AI notes: On June 21, 1909, the Wright brothers—Orville and Wilbur—began assembling their airplane at Fort Myer, Virginia, near Washington, D.C., in preparation for U.S. Army flight trials. This marked a significant phase in aviation history, as the U.S. Army Signal Corps had contracted the Wrights to deliver a flying machine capable of meeting military specifications, including sustained flight with a passenger. Orville took the lead in assembling the Wright Military Flyer, which had been shipped in crates and required careful reassembly on the Fort Myer parade grounds. The trials aimed to prove the aircraft's capabilities in speed, endurance, and control, ultimately leading to the first military airplane purchase later that year.
