background: Haile Selassie was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia on November 2, 1930, in an elaborate coronation ceremony held at St. George's Cathedral in Addis Ababa. Born Ras Tafari Makonnen, he took the throne under the regnal name Haile Selassie I, meaning “Power of the Trinity.” The ceremony was attended by international dignitaries and symbolized Ethiopia’s sovereignty and modern aspirations. Selassie was crowned “King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah,” titles linking him to the biblical lineage of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. The event was pivotal not only for Ethiopia but also for the emerging Rastafarian movement, which regarded him as a divine figure.
