Page 69 has a terrific full page advertisement for "U2" concert at Madison Square Garden. (see images) This was there inaugural performance at the iconic venue.
AI notes: On April 1, 1985, U2 performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City as part of their Unforgettable Fire Tour, supporting their fourth studio album. The concert featured a powerful setlist including “A Sort of Homecoming,” “Bad,” “New Year’s Day,” and “Pride (In the Name of Love),” along with covers like “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” The show highlighted U2’s shift toward a more atmospheric and textured live sound, incorporating socially conscious themes and sequenced arrangements. This performance marked a key moment in the band’s rise to global prominence.
I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because their was really no reason to save it at the time.
The Village Voice was an American counterculture newspaper known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. It introduced free-form, high-spirited, and passionate journalism into the public discourse - a tradition it maintained throughout its 60+ year history. It is quite common to find great political cartoons, satirical cartoons and articles, thought-provoking editorials, and ads and reviews for both concerts and theater productions - both on and off Broadway. Many iconic writers and musicians credit their appearance in The Village Voice for at least a portion of their success.
