Note: On June 9, 1985, the Los Angeles Lakers clinched the NBA Championship by defeating the Boston Celtics 111–100 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals at Boston Garden. This victory marked the Lakers' first-ever Finals series win over the Celtics and the first time a visiting team secured the title on Boston's home court.
The Lakers won the series 4–2, overcoming a 34-point loss in Game 1, known as the "Memorial Day Massacre." Abdul-Jabbar rebounded from that defeat to average 25.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists over the series.
This championship was a significant milestone in the storied Lakers-Celtics rivalry, ending Boston's eight consecutive Finals victories over Los Angeles.
