background: Released in 1993, Leprechaun is a cornerstone of "so-bad-it’s-good" cinema that successfully blended Irish folklore with the 90s slasher craze, primarily remembered today for featuring Jennifer Aniston in her pre-Friends film debut. The plot follows a vengeful, ancient leprechaun (played with menacing glee by Warwick Davis) who is accidentally freed from a crate and begins a murderous rampage through a North Dakota farmhouse to reclaim his stolen pot of gold. While the film was originally intended to be a straightforward horror movie, the absurdity of the kills—including the infamous pogo-stick execution—and Davis’s witty, rhyming dialogue shifted it into the realm of horror-comedy. Despite being panned by critics at the time for its thin plot and campy tone, its low-budget charm and the sheer charisma of its tiny antagonist turned it into a massive commercial success, spawning seven sequels that took the character everywhere from the inner city to outer space.
