Folio size, wide margins, nice condition.

background: Le Louisianais was a French-language newspaper published in Convent, Louisiana, from roughly 1865 to the early 1880s, serving the francophone communities of St. James Parish and surrounding areas. Emerging in the post–Civil War era, it provided local news, announcements, obituaries, and commentary, reflecting both the social and cultural life of Louisiana’s French-speaking population during Reconstruction. The newspaper is notable today as a genealogical and historical resource, offering insights into local society, politics, and francophone heritage in a period of significant social and economic change. Digitized issues, such as those preserved by the Library of Congress and accessible through platforms like Newspapers.com, allow researchers to trace community histories, family lineages, and regional events, preserving a window into 19th-century Louisiana life that would otherwise be difficult to access.
