Item # 704642
February 15, 1862
THE DAILY SOUTHERN GUARDIAN, Columbia, South Carolina, Feb. 15, 1862 A rather rare title and great that it includes the word “Southern”.
The front page is mostly taken up with ads & military notices but two columns have war news: "From Norfolk" "From Richmond" "The War Feeling in the Country" "The Evacuation of Romney".
Much more war reporting on the back page including: "Further Detail" "The Van of Victory" "The Force at Roanoke" "Humphrey Marshall's Victory in Eastern Kentucky" "McClellan About to Move" "The Anaconda War" "To the Soldiers from S. Carolina in the Army of the Potomac" "The Casualties--Further from Fort Donelson" and much more.
Complete as a single sheet issue with wide, untrimmed margins. A very small library stamp above the masthead, some clear tape at the top margin, nice condition.
