A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. Half of the front page has war-related news under headings: "From Norfolk" "Conduct of the War" "Notes Of The War" & reports from: "The Federal Congress" "From North Carolina" "From The South" and more.
Page 2 includes much reporting from: "Confederate Congress" and reports headed: "Battle of Roanoke Island" which takes nearly 1 1/2 columns; & "From The Potomac". Page 3 includes a: "Proclamation By the President" setting aside a day for thanksgiving and prayer, signed in type: Jefferson Davis, and another "Proclamation" proclaiming martial law in Norfolk & Portsmouth, also signed in type: Jefferson Davis (see photos). Also "Rumors" "From The Valley" "A Richmond Traitor" "From the North" & other items including many ads & "Military Notices". The back page is almost entirely taken up with ads & notices including a heading for: "Runaways".
Complete as a four page newspaper, nice condition.
