HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, April 27, 1861  The front page shows: "General Thomas Swearing In the Volunteers Called Into the Service of the United States at Washington, D.C." plus there is also text on: "The Bombardment of Fort Sumter".
Inside includes a dramatic full pg: "The Interior of Fort Sumter During the Bombardment" and also a full page: "Map of Charleston Harbor, Showing Fort Sumter & the Confederate Batteries". The doublepage centerfold is another dramatic print of the: "Bombardment of Fort Sumter by the Batteries of the Confederate States, April 13, 1861", while a somewhat smaller prints show: "President Lincoln" and "General Beauregard".
The back page includes 4 cartoons, two of which relate to the Civil War. This issue also includes a serialized portion of "Great Expectations", by Charles Dickens. Complete in 16 pages.
