ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Nov. 21, 1879  Page 3 has almost half a column headed: "The James Boys" "An Instance Where Jesse James Was Moved from His Purpose by the Voice of Prayer". It begins: "The famous detective, Pinkerton, has given the James boys the name of being blood thirsty wretches who could never be moved from their purpose of killing, when once they made up their mind..." but the remainder of the article would note otherwise.

THE OVERTON RECORD, Texas, Oct. 31, 1889  Overton only had one newspaper thru 1936 and this was it. It is not known how long this title existed, but Gregory's Union List of American Newspapers notes only one institution having had any issues, and it had just two dates, both of which have been deaccessioned. ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Oct. 2, 1875  Page 3 has most of a column taken up with: "Were They The James Boys? "Two Men Stop a Texas Express Wagon & Rob It of a Large Amount of Money". The article is very detailed and is a terrific account of a stage coach robbery (see), but this robbery was apparently not the work of Jesse & Frank James.

THE GLOBE, South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Oct. 18, 1898

The bottom of page 3 has a small & somewhat inconspicuous article headed: "Jesse James Indicted" which begins: "The grand jury yesterday returned indictments against Jesse James, son of the noted outlaw..." (see). The following year he would be acquitted of robbery of a Missouri Pacific train.
Four pages, margin toning, very nice condition, should be handled carefully.

ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Nov. 8, 1883  Likely due to its location on the edge of the Western frontier, this newspaper typically contained a wealth sensational crime reports and events from the West, much more than any found in eastern newspapers.

THE VILLAGE VOICE, Greenwich Village, New York, July 30, 1970  A significant newspaper on the historic "Festival For Peace" concert at Shea Stadium as this was the only issue in which the iconic advertisement appeared. The Janis Joplin website identifies this festival/concert as her last public performance before her untimely death.
