Jesse & Frank James captured ?

Item # 598488 ·
THE NEW YORK TIMES, January 30, 1875

* Jesse and Frank James arrested ?
* Kearney MO Missouri home raid

The bottom of the front page has a very brief--and inaccurate--report headed: "Arrest Of The James Boys In Missouri". It reads in total: "A dispatch purporting to come from reliable sources says that Sheriff Groom, of Clay County, with a posse of twenty men, has captured the James boys at Missouri City. No particulars are given."
Believing they have members of the James gang penned-in, a team of Pinkerton agents shoot up the James family home in Kearney, Mo. The outlaws, however, were not home, and the detectives managed only to kill James' 9-year-old half-brother and to maim Zerelda James, the mother of Frank and Jesse.
Eight pages, light browning, some small margin tears, should be handled with care.
