background: Christopher Wilder, infamously known as "The Beauty Queen Killer," was an Australian-born race car driver and contractor who executed a horrific, six-week cross-country crime spree across the United States in the spring of 1984. Utilizing his affluent persona and posing as a fashion photographer, he lured young women and aspiring models from shopping malls and public events under the guise of professional opportunities, only to kidnap, torture, and murder them. His path of violence spanned over a dozen states, landing him on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list as authorities struggled to track his erratic movements. The manhunt reached a violent conclusion on April 13, 1984, in Colebrook, New Hampshire, when Wilder died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a struggle with state troopers near the Canadian border. Even decades after his death, forensic advances and DNA profiling have continued to link him to various cold cases, cementing his legacy as one of the most prolific and predatory serial killers of the 1980s.
