George Washington abandons New York...

Item # 723780

November 23, 1776

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Nov. 23, 1776  Almost the entire front page is taken up with a continuation of: "A Series of Answers to certain Popular Objections against Separating from the Rebellious Colonists, and discarding them entirely; being a concluding Tract of the Dean of Gloucester on the Subject of American Affairs". The photos show about one-third of the front page text, which is "Objection IX" to which there are six answers. Fascinating reading.
An inside pg. has a report which begins: "...from New York which brings an account that Gen. Washington with his army had quitted his intrenchments at King's Bridge which were taken possession of by his Majesty's forces, & that a considerable number of the Provincials have deserted to the King's army..." plus other reports.
The back page has a letter from Montreal concerning Revolutionary War events there. Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, some foxing, generally very nice condition.

Item from our most recent catalog - #363, released for February, 2026

(Added to the February, 2026 Catalog (#363) after its initial release - only available on-line.)
