background: On October 27, 1933, a major demonstration erupted in Jaffa, Mandatory Palestine, as Arab residents protested against British policies favoring Jewish immigration. Tensions had been building due to growing frustration over land sales to Jewish settlers and perceived British partiality. Despite a ban on political processions, thousands of demonstrators gathered in Jaffa’s Clock Tower Square, insisting on marching through residential areas to assert their presence. Clashes quickly escalated when police attempted to disperse the crowd; stones, sticks, and bottles were thrown, and the British police, including armed units held in reserve, opened fire. The violence left 26 Arabs dead and nearly 190 injured, including the prominent Arab leader Musa al-Husayni, who suffered serious head injuries. The unrest spread to other cities, including Haifa, Nablus, and Jerusalem, highlighting deepening Arab nationalism and anti-British sentiment, and foreshadowed the larger Arab Revolt of 1936–1939.
