AI notes: On October 18, 1956, Elvis Presley was involved in a physical altercation at a Memphis gas station, leading to his arrest. The incident occurred when Presley stopped at a Gulf service station at Gayoso and Second for repairs on his Continental Mark II. As he interacted with fans, the crowd grew, obstructing traffic. Station manager Edd Hopper requested Presley to move his car, but after repeated refusals, tensions escalated, resulting in a brief scuffle between Presley and Hopper. Aubrey Brown, a station employee, was also involved in the altercation. All three were arrested and charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct. Presley was released on bail, and the charges against him were later dismissed. Hopper and Brown were fined for their involvement.
