The front page features in large, dramatic fashion an historic headline: "WIR DANKEN ALLE GOTT ! " which translates to: "We All Thank God!" Among other front page reports is: "East Berlin Tears Immediately Nine Big Holes in the Wall" and more.
This newspaper is filled with great photos of people coming thru the infamous wall, the celebrations, men chipping away at the wall, and an impressive doublepage photo of partying on the wall at the Brandenburg Gate. A truly historic issue, and terrific to have such a report in a Berlin newspaper.

AI notes: On November 11, 1989, Berlin was still electrified by the unprecedented events of two days earlier, when the Berlin Wall had effectively fallen. East German citizens, prompted by an unexpected announcement allowing free passage across the border, had poured into West Berlin in a surge of celebration and relief. By the 11th, crowds continued to gather at key checkpoints, notably near the Brandenburg Gate, as people from both East and West chipped away at the concrete barrier with hammers and chisels, taking pieces as souvenirs. Border guards largely stepped aside, and the atmosphere was one of spontaneous jubilation, mingled with disbelief that decades of separation could end so suddenly. Media coverage captured the historic convergence of families, friends, and strangers, highlighting a city transitioning from division to unity, setting the stage for the formal reunification of Germany less than a year later.
