AI notes: Sam "Mooney" Giancana, a former boss of the Chicago Outfit, was assassinated on June 19, 1975, at his home in Oak Park, Illinois. He was shot multiple times in the head, and the murder remains unsolved. Giancana was deeply involved in organized crime, had ties to the CIA, and was suspected of helping with covert operations against Fidel Castro. His assassination could have been the result of a power struggle within the mob, retribution for his connections to the Kennedy family and the CIA, or a personal vendetta. Despite many theories, the identity of the killer and the exact motive remain unclear.
