AI notes: On October 29, 1987, The Cars performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City as part of their "Door to Door" tour, supporting what would become their final studio album with the original lineup. The show came during a period of internal tension within the band, and the tour marked the last time the original members — Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson — played together live before disbanding in early 1988.
Page 92 has a full page advertisement for a "Simply Red" performance at the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan.
I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because their was really no reason to save it at the time.
The Village Voice was an American counterculture newspaper known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. It introduced free-form, high-spirited, and passionate journalism into the public discourse - a tradition it maintained throughout its 60+ year history. It is quite common to find great political cartoons, satirical cartoons and articles, thought-provoking editorials, and ads and reviews for both concerts and theater productions - both on and off Broadway. Many iconic writers and musicians credit their appearance in The Village Voice for at least a portion of their success.
Complete in 156 pages, one fold across the center, nice condition.
