The United States enters World War I...

Item # 716034

April 09, 1917

EVENING TRIBUNE, San Diego, April 9, 1917

* United States enters World War I (WWI)
* Austria breaks relations w/ America

The front page has a nice banner headline: "AUSTRIA BREAKS WITH U. S." with subheads. (see images) Nice for display.
Complete with 14 pages, light toning at the margins, a little irregular along the spine, generally very nice.

Note: In 1917, during World War I, Austria-Hungary broke diplomatic relations with the United States on April 8, shortly after the U.S. declared war on Germany. Though not immediately at war, tensions escalated between the two nations. On December 7, 1917, Austria-Hungary formally declared war on the United States, and the U.S. responded by declaring war the same day, officially making them enemies in the global conflict. This alignment reflected Austria-Hungary's support for its ally Germany against the growing involvement of the U.S. in the war.
