Note: On November 17, 1945, Josef Kramer—infamously known as the "Beast of Belsen"—was sentenced to death by a British military tribunal at Lüneburg, Germany. This verdict concluded the Belsen Trial, which had commenced on September 17, 1945, and lasted for 54 days. The trial was among the first major war crimes proceedings following World War II, focusing on atrocities committed at both Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz concentration camps.
