THE AMERICAN MERCURY, Hartford, Connecticut, July 26, 1784 This is the earliest date of this famous title we have offered, as its circulation was sizable during the early 19th century. This is the volume 1, number 3 issue.
Perhaps the feature is the masthead which has an engraving of the most anemic and/or deformed eagle to be found in print. Fortunately, the engraving was changed to a more majestic image a bit later.
Four pages, minor wear at the margins, good condition.
