Page 79 has a 10 1/2 x 8 inch advertisement for the grand premiere performance of "The Rocky Horror Show" musical at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway.
Note: When The Rocky Horror Show first opened on Broadway March 10, 1975, it seemed to be a runaway freight train. A smash hit in London and Los Angeles, a film was recorded before the show made the anticipated jump to Broadway. Then, things skidded to a stop when New York theatre critics panned the show, leading to its closure at the Belasco Theatre 45 performances later, on April 5, 1975. A movie would be released later that year and become a cult classic.
I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because their was really no reason to save it at the time.
The Village Voice was an American counterculture newspaper known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. It introduced free-form, high-spirited, and passionate journalism into the public discourse - a tradition it maintained throughout its 60+ year history. It is quite common to find great political cartoons, satirical cartoons and articles, thought-provoking editorials, and ads and reviews for both concerts and theater productions - both on and off Broadway. Many iconic writers and musicians credit their appearance in The Village Voice for at least a portion of their success.
Other interesting items from the counter-culture era. Complete in 112 pages, tabloid-size, one crease across the center, nice condition.
