Apollo 9 pre Moon landing mission...
Item # 715040
March 07, 1969
THE NEWS AND OBSERVER, Raleigh, North Carolina, March 7, 1969
* Apollo 9 spaceflight mission success
* Prelude to the Moon landing (Apollo 11)
* Testing the Lunar Module & other procedures
The front page has a four column heading: "Red Rover Recovers, Takes Walk in Space" with related photo. (see images) I suspect this to be a very rare item as the actual Moon landing a few months later was the newspaper report people saved at the time.
Complete with 42 pages, light toning at the margins, good condition.
wikipedia notes: Apollo 9 was the third human spaceflight in NASA's Apollo program, which successfully tested systems and procedures critical to landing on the Moon. The three-man crew consisted of Commander James McDivitt, Command Module Pilot David Scott, and Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart. Flown in low Earth orbit, it was the second crewed Apollo mission that the United States launched via a Saturn V rocket, and was the first flight of the full Apollo spacecraft: the command and service module with the Lunar Module.
