Note: In 1955, the Prophet Mohammed, an eight-foot-tall marble statue of the Prophet Muhammad created by Mexican sculptor Charles Albert López was permanently removed, committed New York to keep that pedestal empty as a symbol of the Court’s contrition for having offended and as a commitment to respect the sensibilities of the Muslim world going forward.
At that time, according to journals George T.
