April 01, 1862

DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, April 1, 1862  The entire front page is taken up with ads, and page 2 has an editorial beginning: "On Friday the 28th of March Mr. Davis made the first practical suggestion of a general measure for the support of the war which Congress has received from him..." which concerns a request for a draft of soldiers (see). Also on page 2 are: "Movements & Spirit of the War--The Merrimac Fight--The Killed And Wounded on the Congress" "A Difference Of Vision" "New Fort Union, New Mexico" "What Another May Thought Would Happen in 60 Days from January, 1862" and smaller items.
Page 3 has much reporting from: "The Confederate Congress" as well as "City Intelligence" "Telegraphic News" "The Enemy On the South Carolina Coast--Sharp Skirmishing" and other smaller items. Much of the back page is taken up with various Acts of the Confederate Congress.
Four pages, very nice condition.
