June 19, 1801

SALEM GAZETTE, Massachusetts, June 19, 1801 On page 3 under "Naval Affairs" is a brief report stating: "The Constitution and Boston frigates are now in Boston Harbor." Also mention of ships headed off: "...for the protection of our Mediterranean commerce..." leading to the First Barbary War.
Another report notes: "...The utility of Santee Canal, in South Carolina, is now felt; and the crops of distant plantations arrive at Charleston through this new navigation...".
Four pages, the water staining does not affect readability, minor loss at the blank margin, good condition.
