GAZETTE OF THE UNITED STATES, New York, June 2, 1790  Breaking news on page 3 headed: "Adoption Of The Constitution By The State Of Rhode-Island" with the report stating: "...we have received authentic information that the CONVENTION of RHODE ISLAND did, on Saturday last, adopt the Constitution of the United States by a majority of TWO. The Yeas were Thirty-Four--the Nays Thirty-two...It is expected the Governor of Rhode Island will immediately convene the legislature of that state in order that they may proceed to the choice of two Senators to the Congress of the United States..." with more.
Rhode Island was the last of the original 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution, in fact it never attended the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
Page 2 has two "Acts" of Congress, each signed in type: John Adams, George Washington & Thomas Jefferson, one: "AN ACT for the Government of the Territory of the United States, South of the River Ohio." The first is topped by an engraving of a heraldic eagle.
Four pages, there is an archivally repaired tear to the front leaf, a tear that existed prior to printing. Some foxing spots, good condition.

Considered by many as the most significant newspaper of the 18th century, as the Gazette was the mouthpiece of all matters political. Most pronouncements from Congress & the President were printed first in this newspaper.
