* Al 'Scarface' Capone guilty
* Infamous tax evasion conviction
* Best title to be had - very rare
* Inventor Thomas Edison death
The front page has the perfect headline for any collector of gangster-era newspapers, particularly being in a Chicago title: "U.S. JURY CONVICTS CAPONE". The sub-headline: "Gang Monarch Guilty On 5 Tax Fraud Counts" "Faces Possibility of 17 Years in Cell."
The article begins: "Al Capone was found guilty of income tax evasion by a jury in Federal Judge James H. Wilkerson's court last night & faces a possible term of 15 years in Leavenworth penitentiary..." with much more. The detailed article carries over to pages 2 and 3 where are found 5 related photos captioned: "Capone Waiting for Jury to Decide His Fate." and "Two Snapshots of Capone After Guilty Verdict."
Also on the front page is a five column heading: "Thomas A. Edison Dies in Sleep at 84" (see images)
Always great to have Al Capone in a headline of a Chicago newspaper.
