Book: "Men and Times of the Revolution; Or, Memoirs of Elkanah Watson", 1856
The full title is: "Men and times of the revolution; or, Memoirs of Elkanah Watson, including journals of travels in Europe and America, from 1777 to 1842, with his correspondence with public men and reminiscences and incidents of the revolution.", by Elkanah Watson, edited by his son, Winslow C. Watson. Ben Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Paine, William Penn, and more all appear within the pages of his memoir. Each chapter begins with a themed illustration. See images for a few highlights.
Amazon describes a modern edition as: "Mr. Watson's son edited these journals, memoirs of a man traveling through America during the revolution and in much later years. When the journal ends, the son pieces the travels together through letters, random notes, etc.".
This appears to be the 1856 "Second Edition". Its provenance includes the library of Bukley Southworth Griffin, Washington, D.C. While it initially contained 558 pages plus a few advertising pages annexed at the end, missing are the title page (but a copy is included), pgs. 23-24, and 99-118. The missing pages may be viewed/copied through the internet archive. All called for illustrations are present with the exception of "Introduction of Franklin in Wax". Pages are not pulpish, various notes are found on the front and back blank pages, even toning.
