Three Acts of Congress signed by George Washington...
Item # 704045
April 26, 1794
COLUMBIAN CENTINEL, Boston, April 26, 1794
* President George Washington
* Three Acts of U.S. Congress
A great display issue as the front page features not one but three Acts of Congress each signed in script type by the President: Go. Washington, and in block type by the Vice President: John Adams.
The first of the Acts is: "...to authorize the President of the United States in certain cases to alter the place for holding a session of Congress."
Four pages, some toning at the margins, never bound nor trimmed, a crease at the center, very nice condition.
AI notes: The April 26, 1794 issue of the Columbian Centinel highlights several important Acts of Congress signed by President George Washington. These laws focus on strengthening the young United States by improving maritime safety through the construction of lighthouses, enhancing national defense via militia organization, and regulating commerce to support economic growth. The issue reflects Washington’s role in promoting federal authority and infrastructure development to secure the nation’s future.
