THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, Nov. 3, 1679  This issue has two items concerning the curious Popish Plot, the fabricated scheme accusing Catholics of plotting the assassination of King Charles II.
Most of the first column of the front page is taken up with a Royal Proclamation by the king pardon to those providing information in the Popish Plot. The back page has a report from Whitehall concerning "...certain dangerous and treasonable papers sized...of several treasonable practices against his Majesties person and government and of his having been prevailed with by several of the Popish religion...".
Single sheet, 7 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
