July 16, 1774

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, July 16, 1774  This is one of the better issues from just before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, as page 5 contains the complete printing of all 5 of the Coercive Acts, or as known in the colonies as "The Intolerable Acts".
These acts were a threat to liberty & all the colonies. These Acts of Parliament, five in total, are rarely found printed in the same newspaper as they were enacted at various times. They include The Quartering Act: requiring the colonists to house any British soldier who came to their door & asked to stay; The Boston Port Act: closed the port of Boston until damages from the Boston Tea Party were paid for; The Administration of Justice Act: stated British officials could not be tried in provincial courts; The Massachusetts Government Act: gave the British control of town meetings & took control out of the colonists' hands; and The Quebec Act: this bill changed the Canadian borders.
See the photos for the complete text. Terrific to have this content in a British newspaper published in the city where the Acts originated
This is very likely the earliest printing of these Acts to be found in any newspaper.
If this historic content wasn't enough, the following page has a short bit noting: "A letter from the Committee of the city of Philadelphia to the Committee of Boston, sent by Mr. Paul Revere..." followed by the letter. It is rare to find mention of Paul Revere before his famous ride on April 18, 1775, and nice reference to his courier duties.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
