background: Guinea Gold was a daily four‑page newspaper produced in the field for Allied troops in New Guinea during World War II, first issued on 19 November 1942 at Port Moresby. It carried world and home‑front news drawn from Australian and U.S. papers (and early MacArthur communiqués), aimed to boost morale and stave off boredom in the jungle.
