The first issue published: how long did it exist?

Item # 701250

April 01, 1877

THE CAMP JOURNAL, Lewistown, Pennsylvania, April, 1877  This title is not listed in Gregory's "Union List of Newspapers", nor can we find information elsewhere. This is the volume 1, number 1 issue, so it is unknown how long this newspaper lasted.
In the "Salutatory" on page 4 they note: "...The Camp Journal will advocate the wide-awake principles of the Patriot Order Sons of America, vis: Opposition to the union of Church and State, in favor of free education, and the protection & maintenance of the constitution and laws of our country...".
Eight pages, various margin tears, some archival repairs at the spine, some dirtiness, ornate masthead.

Item from Catalog #355 (released for June, 2025)
