CALEDONIAN MERCURY, Edinburgh, Scotland, Oct. 27, 1779  Page 3 has a letter from New York which includes: "The march of a detachment of the royal army to the vicinity of Charlestown, it is said, occasioned a great number of negroes, little short of 4000, to go over to the British troops; vast quantities of provisions and a great many plantations were destroyed so that the rebels feel a very heavy loss for that enterprize...".
Four pages, nice condition.
