The front page contains not one but three Acts of Congress, each one signed in script type by the President: Go. Washington.
The Acts are regarding duties on distilled spirits, one for placing buoys in Boston harbor, and one for setting the time for the next meeting of Congress.
All three of these Acts of Congress were approved and signed into law by President George Washington on March 3, 1797, just one day prior to his leaving office. By the time they were printed in this newspaper, John Adams had been inaugurated as the second President of the United States.
This newspaper is one of the only titles which used the "script" font for documents signed by the President, making them quite displayable when on the front page.
