* Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin & Jim Morrison...

* Drug overdoses (27 club) - nice front pages
Within a 12-month span Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison, three of the most iconic musicians of the late 60's and early 70's, suffered untimely deaths. Their individual and collective loss was devastating. Shortly after their deaths, each were featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, the most recognizable music-themed publication of the era. Each issue also included considerable coverage with additional photos on inside pages.
Whereas a few Rolling Stone issues featuring Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison can be found, Janis Joplin's feature is more difficult to come 1960's/70's collection.
All are complete issues of this very famous title from when it was a tabloid-size newspaper, not a magazine, and have better-than-average wear. Leafing through its pages is like a walk through the turbulent years of the day. Additional music/culture-themed articles with corresponding photos are found within each. See images for details. Lengthy text.
