WILKES' SPIRIT OF THE TIMES, New York, Feb. 18, 1860 It is subtitled in the masthead: "A Chronicle of the Turf, Field Sports, Literature and the Stage".
With the world title boxing match scheduled for April 17 there are many articles relating to John Heenan and Tom Sayers.
Page 3 has reports concerning the upcoming Match, as do pages 5 & 15 as shown in the photos.
Unrelated by very descriptive is a lengthy article: "A Journey to the Western Plains of America" written by Grantley Berkeley, a British politician, writer & sportsman. This is part 3 of an installment.
Sixteen pages, 11 by 15 1/4 inches, a sporting-themed engraving in the masthead, very nice condition.
