THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, June 25 1772 The back page has an: "Extract of a Letter from Virginia" concerning control over the religious management of the colonies, noting in part: "Formerly Bishop Gibson was invested by a commission from the King with a power to exercise ecclesiastical jurisdiction in the Colonies, and to delegate this power to his Commissaries...and the offending Brethren were sometimes brought before these Spiritual Courts..." with more on this.
Also an item: "Letters from New York import that a part engagement happened lately between a large pirate ship that had long infested the sea coasts and a vessel of 18 guns belonging to Boston in which the pirate was so roughly handled that she was obliged to sheer off."
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, nice condition.
