March 05, 1841

NEW YORK HERALD, March 5, 1841  A terrific & quite unusual newspaper as the front page contains two rather large prints headed: "Representation Of The Inauguration of Gen. Harrison at Washington, March 4, 1841" and also: "Representation Of The Procession of General Harrison On His Way Through Pennsylvania Ave. to The White House, After Having Taken the Oaths of Office."
This issue may well have the earliest print of a Presidential inauguration to ever appear in newspapers (any researchers out there?)
Keep in mind that the inauguration was just the day before. The quick turnaround with these engravings is amazing.
Additionally, page 2 has nice reports on the inauguration with: "The Inaugural Address--Procession and Proceedings" and further on is the full text of Harrison's "Inaugural Address".
Harrison has at least 3 distinctions here: 1) the longest inaugural address ever given (longer than all 4 of FDR's addresses combined), 2) the first President to die in office, and 3) the shortest term of office (31 days).
Four pages, minor archival mend at the top of the spine, very nice condition.
