THE CONNECTICUT COURANT, Hartford, March 27, 1769

* Townshend Acts
* British colonies

In reaction to the hated Townshend Acts, Boston merchants agree to a nonimportation pack banning almost all items from England. Page 3 has a letter from London that reflects this: "I arrived here...ready to take on board; but I cannot learn that there is any good to be shipped for Boston, nor do I expect any goods but your own...I never knew such dull times here before, and what will be the event God only knows. All trade seems to be at a stand..." and then another letter for London mentions: "...at present we have nor a single order save one received yesterday. What can be done with the number of ships that will be here from America we know not. Every thing relative to navigation looks exceedingly gloomy at present...".
Several more letters from London as well concerning the dismal state of affairs due to the nonimportation pact.
Four pages, never-trimmed margins, rubbing wear at folds with various archival mends at the spine and folds, no loss of text.
