AI notes: In 1843, John C. Frémont led an expedition through Oregon to explore and map the Oregon Trail. Traveling with Kit Carson, his team reached the Willamette Valley, gathering valuable information and promoting American settlement in the region. His reports boosted interest in Oregon during a time of U.S.–British joint occupation and helped fuel westward expansion.
