NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, Sept. 28, 1844 The back page has a report with a small heading: "Mormons" which notes in part: "Sidney Rigdon, who claimed to be the successor of Joe Smith, and was certainly his right hand man, has been regular "unchurched" by the Twelve Apostles of the sect at Nauvoo. Lyman Wight, one of the leading Mormons with about 200 followers...has gone off to the woods of Wisconsin. The widow of Joe Smith is accused of withholding the property of the church..." and more.
Sixteen pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, archival mend to the reverse of the Mormon article, various foxing, good condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
