Fall of New Orleans to the Yankees, in a Confederate newspaper...
Item # 684952
April 30, 1862
DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, April 30, 1862
* Fall of New Orleans, Louisiana
* Admiral David Farragut
* From the capital of the Confederacy
A very historic report as page 3 contains an early account of the fall of New Orleans to the Yankees, which obviously was a solemn admonition for a Confederate newspaper. The report is taken from Yankee sources with the top of a page 3 column headed: "Telegraphic News" "The Surrender of New Orleans--Correspondence Between the Federal Commander & Mayor Monroe" Included is the full text of the letter signed in type, D. G. Farragut, to the mayor of New Orleans, signed, John Monroe (see for portions).
Many other reports on the Civil War within but the pale in comparison to the report on New Orleans.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, bit close-trimmed at the bottom of pg. 1 only affecting just ads, minor margin wear, generally good.
