On the treaty ending the Mormon War...

Item # 684922

October 09, 1838

DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Oct. 9, 1838

* 1838 Mormon War treaty
* Missouri militia victory
* Latter Day Saint movement

Page 3 has two reports on the Mormons, the first mentions in part: "...that an insurrection is now actually on foot in the counties of Caldwell and Daviess...General A. has ordered out 400 more men...to suppress the insurrection and restore order...that the men now under arms...are not less than 2,000; the greater part of whom are Mormons...".
The other report is more brief, noting in part: "The Mormons of Missouri, of whose lawless proceedings we spoke...reinforced by parties of the same sect from the British provinces. It is no wonder that the people of Missouri are heartily sick of such fanatical associates and doubtless our neighbors the Canadians are well pleased at getting rid of them."
Four pages, very nice condition.
