SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, New York, Oct. 6, 1894  An inside page has a large illustration of: "MR. MAXIM'S FLYING MACHINE" with considerable related text.
Note: Hiram S. Maxim's "airplane" became the first "heavier than air" machine to take flight under its own power (source: Wikipedia). More can be read about this flying machine though the University of Houston's website.
Additional illustrations and text regarding inventions and the progress/development related to technology, machinery, tools, etc. during this era are also found throughout.
Sixteen pages, small mend at the bottom of the front page, nice condition.
