The front page has a great banner headline: "BIGGEST WARSHIP SUNK ! " and: " 'Unlucky Hit' Blows Up Britain's Hood; Fear 1,300 Dead" with subheads. The bottom of the front page has a large photo of the H.M.S. Hood headed: "Sent to Bottom in Sea Battle Off Greenland". Page 6 has another photos & more text.
This was the sinking of the H.M.S. Hood by the German battleship, Bismarck. The Bismarck would be sunk in retaliation a few days later.
The Hood was the largest warship in the world for 20 years after her commissioning, and her prestige was reflected in her nickname "The Mighty Hood".
Present only are pages 1, 2, 5, 6, 11 and 12 of 78 pages. Minor margin wear, generally good condition.
