NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, Feb. 29, 1840  Near the top of the front page is a small heading: "The Amistad Schooner" which reports on the case of the Amistad slave ship, made famous recently by the 1997 Stephen Spielberg movie of the same name.
The article mentions: "The British government...have been actively interposing in the affairs of the Amistad...to intercede with our government in behalf of the negroes; also they directed their minister at Madrid to ask for their liberty...to enforce the laws against Montes and Ruiz."..." with much more.
Sixteen pages, 8 by 12 inches, very nice condition.
