WAVERLY FREE PRESS, Waverly, New York, July 16, 1892 The second page has a report on the Homestead Strike at Homestead, Pennsylvania, which to date remains one of the most significant and tragic labor disputes in U.S. history.
This early report is headed: "The Strike at Homestead" includes: "The largest strike, perhaps, in U.S. history is at present being waged at Homestead, Pa., where more than four thousand men were employed by the Carnegie Iron Works...., and continues: "...Pinkerton men were brought to the works by the Carnegies, and a pitched battle was fought, in which the workmen defeated the detectives, with severe loss to the latter. Several workers were also killed", with more.
Attached to the front page is also a small advertising flier.
Four pages, a bit of minor margin chipping, generally nice condition.
